Friendlies: Bracknell Town beaten by Southern League opposition and Binfield lose on the road

It was a busy Saturday of pre season friendlies with under two weeks to go until the start of the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division season.

Bracknell Town hosted Evo Stik Southern League Premier Division side Basingstoke Town at Larges Lane and were beaten 5-3.

The Robins were 2-1 down at half time despite a Liam Ferdinand equaliser and a very unfortunate own goal from George Short hat he knew little about. There was also a first half injury to winger Joe Grant to worry fans.

Bracknell forced a double save early in the second half before ‘stoke made it 3-1 and then 4-1.

Adam Cornell got himself on the scoresheet to make it 4-2, before the visitors made it 5-2 and Callum Whitty made it 5-3 meeting Jamie McClurg’s header.

Binfield made the short trip across to Combined Counties Premier Division side Camberley Town and were beaten 2-1 while Ascot United’s trip to AC London was reportedly postponed with the hosts unable to raise a side.

  • Sandhurst Town 3-2 Fire United (2pm)
  • Kingsbury Rangers 2-2 AFC Aldermaston (3pm)
  • Sheerwater 1-3 Woodley United
