The four Bracknell Town & District Sunday League Senior Cup 1st round ties played this weekend went very much to form with FC Fernhill defeating Finchampstead Athletic Reserves 6-2, Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW edging out Hurricanes by 3-1. Raglan thumped Ashridge Park 11-1 in all Division 1 tie whilst top team in Division 1 WAB defeated AFC Crowthorne of the same division by 3-1. Finchampstead Athletic also progressed with a walkover against Binfield Royals.

There was one upset in the Junior Cup with Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves of Division 4 defeating WAB Reserves of Division 3 by 5-3, otherwise, the remaining 1st round ties all went to form. Notable results were Newbold College’s defeat of Bracknell Athletic by 8-1 (both of Division 2), Bracknell Corinthians loss to Bearwood Wanderers 2-3 in an all Division 3 tie and an 8-3 win for Woodley Saints (top of Division 3) against Finchampstead Athletic A. Teams progressing to round 2 were AFC Crowthorne Reserves, Woodley United, 3M, Bracknell Saint Germain, Newbold College, Berawood Wanderers, Silver Birch, Woodley Saints, Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves, Winnersh Town and Crownwood Dukes.

In the Premier Division, competition for top spot heated up this weekend with Crowthorne Inn retaining top spot (with 12 points) following a 4-2 win at home to Golden Farmer Rangers. William Twigg Vets retained second place (on 10 points) by beating Bracknell Cavaliers 2-0 whilst FC Meta moved into 3rd position (7 points) by defeating Morale Madrid 3-0.

In the only game played in Division 1 Berkshire All Stars secured their first win of the season against a Sandhurst FFC, themselves struggling to find some form, by a resounding 4-0. Ben Lawrence and Sam Barnor each scored a brace for All Stars.

In Division 2 Athletico Ascot regained top spot from Warfield United in a fixture scheduling “oddity” that saw the top two playing each other in successive weeks. This latest fixture saw Athletico defeat Warfield 2-0. At the other end of the table Braybrooke Wanderers continue to struggle following their “nightmare” in the Premier Division last season, suffering 4th successive league defeat this time by 3-5 to Ashridge Park Royals. Victory for Ashridge takes them up to 5th level on points with 3M.

Concluding this week’s round-up is the one result from Division 3 that saw Hope & Anchor beat Winnersh Rangers 2-1.
