Bracknell Sunday League: County Cup action and WAB stay top of Division 1 while Warfield stretch clear at the top of Division 2

In the weekend’s all-Bracknell Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup ties, FC Fernhill eliminated Golden Farmer Rangers 4-0 whilst William Twigg Vets edged a 12-goal thriller by defeating FC Meta 7-5. Also progressing to the 2nd round were Crowthrorne Inn, Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW and Finchampstead Athletic, who required penalties to settle their tie. Bracknell Cavaliers bowed out of the competition.

In Division 1 WAB stay top following a 2-1 away to a struggling Finchampstead Athletic Reserves whilst Loveman United kept up the pressure in 2nd place maintaining their 100% start with a 3-0 win over Hurricanes. Loveman’s goals were scored by Alfie Sparrow, Jack Gale and Todd Andrews. Raglan moved into 3rd position with an emphatic 5-1 win away to Sandhurst FFC whilst Ashridge Park and Berkshire All Stars shared the points after a 4-4 draw.

At the top of Divison 2 Warfield United opened up a 7-point gap over Athletico Ascot by defeating Newbold College 4-1 whilst Athletico lost out by 3-0 to Woodley United. Braybrooke Athletic will be relieved to have got their first win on the board by 2-1 away to an in-form 3M. The only other game played in the Division resulted in a win for Berks County by 2-1 over Bracknell Saint Germain.

In Division 3 both Woodley Saints and Bracknell Corinthians maintained their 100% starts with emphatic victories over Bracknell Falcons (8-2) and Hope & Anchor (9-4) respectively. WAB Reserves occupy 3rd position but could only manage a 3-3 away to Bearwood Wanderers. This week’s featured team Silver Birch got their first league points of the season with an impressive 8-0 win away to Berkshire United.

In the Leagues Junior Cup Ashridge Park Royals (of Division 3) caused an upset by defeating Winnersh Rangers (of Division 2) 3-1 in their 1st round tie postponed last weekend.

Completing this week’s round up in Division 4, Whitegrove Pythons played their first game of the campaign and were narrowly defeated at home to Crownwood Dukes by 0-1. Crownwood stay top ahead of Bracknell Royals who won 3-0 at home to Finchampstead Athletic A
