There was no fairy tail for Ascot United in their big Berks & Bucks County FA Cup tie at home to MK Dons on Wednesday night, but the Yellamen put on a strong performance against their EFL League One counterparts.

Neil Richards side started with purpose and Louis Bouwers had the ball in the back of the net on 10 minutes, only to see it ruled out for offside while new signing Ben Harris stung the palms of the goalkeeper on 15 with a rocket of a shot.

MK though broke through a few minutes later with Brendon Asante scoring the first goal of the game despite the valiant effort of goalkeeper Lee Allen who was once again in fine form.

Louie Gilpin, on as a sub in the first half looked impressive but as the weather worsened significantly the visitors Asante scored again to make it 2-0.

It was a good performance from the Hellenic Premier’s bottom side who will need to take experience in to their forthcoming league games. The only down side for Richard’s men was an injury to Harris who hobbled off later on.

The complete quarter final draw is here.

For both sides of the match, the Ascot report is here and the MK report is here.

Elsewhere Sandhurst Town beat neighbours Camberley Town in the Aldershot Senior Cup while Woodley United suffered a 2-0 defeat at Brackley Town Saints with both sides reduced to 10 men.
