It was the end of the road in the County Cup for Bracknell Town as they lost their Quarter Final tie with Berkshire neighbours Slough Town 3-2 at Larges Lane on Tuesday night.

Prior to the main action of the evening, there was an impeccably observed silence around the ground for Slough’s long serving physio Kevin McGoldrick who sadly passed away last week while the Rebels fans sang ‘Super Kev’ throughout the evening.

Both sides were at full strength as Jon Underwood and Neil Baker made their long awaited Larges Lane return for a competition that has peaked the interest of local supporters in recent weeks with bigger crowds than you would usually expect for a County tie, 436 watched this one – the Robins though going with one up front in TJ Bohane, though it became clear in the opening minutes Bracknell would rotate through Seb Bowerman and Joe Grant as well in the early stages.

It was of course Bohane who opened the scoring on the night, some how converting Dave Hancock’s knock down at the far post – twisting to poke the ball in to the top of the far corner of the net with 15 minutes gone. It was a lead Bracknell deserved in the opening half hour as they went at their opponents, but when Slough turned up the pressure it allowed Chris Flood to fire home twice before the break to give the visitors a 2-1 half time lead.

Josh Jackman then made it 3-1 on 52 minutes, a fine run down the left and an unstoppable finish past Chris Grace all but sealed the semi final spot. Bracknell had an ace up their sleeve though in Seb Bowerman who gave the Robins hope in the final eight minutes, firing across the Rebels goalkeeper to make it 3-2.
