It was a brilliant day for the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League with all three of its sides winning through the Buildbase FA Vase Fifth Round Proper to advance into the quarter finals.

We travelled to the Midlands to witness Bracknell Town eventually see off Coleshill Town 4-2 after extra time. The Robins started in dominant fashion with Seb Bowerman catching the goalkeeper off-guard to open the scoring after five minutes.

The hosts offered very little in the opening period but the visitors couldn’t add to their tally as TJ Bohane couldn’t take a glorious chance whilst Joe Gater struck the crossbar and a home defender sliced a clearance narrowly over his own bar.

In the second period a long ball dissected the Robins defence as Coleshill levelled but it looked like Bracknell had won it when substitute Adam Cornell had the ball in the net but it was wrongly ruled out for offside – Cornell coming from behind three players to get on the end of a cross.

Into extra time we went and Cornell put the Berkshire side ahead before Joe Grant finished well and the match looked to be over. However, the home side continued to fight and pulled a goal back with a minute left but as they over committed, Jon Bennett raced clear to be fouled by the keeper with Bowerman slamming home the penalty to make the game safe.

Windsor hosted Sydenhams Wessex League side Hamble and were always in control winning 2-0. Ricardo Cannon was set up by man of the match Jack Denton, finishing on the turn before Denton skipped past two defenders and smashed the ball home.

Though not an East Berks club and one we usually feature, we must also praise West Berks side and neighbours Thatcham Town for progressing after beating Total Motion Midland Football League side Bromsgrove Sporting. The hosts struck twice through Ekow Elliott and although Sporting pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, the Kingfishers held on to win through.

So that’s three Hellenic League sides into the last eight and all Berkshire sides too. The quarter final draw takes place on Monday lunchtime on Talksport but we’ll bring you draw details as soon as the draw is made.

In league action Ascot United opened up an eight point gap on the five sides below them after seeing off Oxford City Nomads 3-1. Barry Dunbar gave the Yellamen an early lead and after his header was parried in the 56th minute, James Richardson scored his first goal for the club.

The home side reduced arrears but full-back George Lock made sure of the three points finishing at the far post.

In Division 1 East, Wokingham & Emmbrook remain in fourth place despite a 2-2 draw at home to Chalfont Wasps. Jake White scored the first Sumas goal but we are unsure on who netted the second.

Second bottom team Milton United earned only their second league victory of the season narrowly defeating AFC Aldermaston 2-1.

Sandhurst Town hosted Thame Rangers and proved far too strong running out 5-1 victors. Charlie Oakley netted a hat-trick whist Connor Harlow scored the other two goals.
