Bearwood Wanderers cause upset to reach Bracknell Sunday League Junior Cup Final

FC Fernhill exited the Berks & Bucks County Intermediate Cup at the semi-final stage going down 0-4 to Aylesbury Flooring. Raglan remain the only Bracknell Town & District Sunday League team now in County Cup competition who play their semi-final of the Junior Cup in two week’s time.

Bearwood Wanderers, 4th in Division 3, caused a big upset in beating Warfield United, top of division 2 and unbeaten in the league, 4-1 to reach the final of the League Junior Cup. Bearwood will wait to find out who their final opponents will be after the Woodley Saints vs Newbold College semi-final has been played on 18th March. Congratulations to Bearwood on reaching the final!

Crowthorne Inn remain top of the Premier Division and move 4 points clear of Finchampstead, who’s game at Golden Farmer was postponed. Inn beat Morale Madrid 5-3. In the other game played in the division, William Twigg Vets moved into 4th after defeating Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW 4-1. Wokingham remain pointless.

The day’s top game in Division 1 resulted in an emphatic win for WAB over 2nd placed Loveman United by 5-1. WAB’s closest challengers are now Raglan, unbeaten in the league, who moved 2nd after the award of a walkover win against Hurricanes. Raglan trail WAB by 12 points but have 5 games in hand. The days other game in the division saw Finchampstead Athletic Reserves defeat AFC Crowthorne 5-2.

Warfield United remain top of Division 2 after Woodley United (2nd) were held to a 1-1 draw by Athletico Ascot (3rd). AFC Crowthorne edged out Bracknell Athletic 6-5 and stay 5th.

Woodley Saints moved 3 points clear of WAB Reserves at the top of Division 3 after defeating Bracknell Corinthians 4-0 (WAB’s game against Hope & Anchor was postponed). The other game played in the division saw Winnersh Town beat Berkshire United 5-3.

Bracknell Royals stay top of Division 4 following a hard-fought 4-3 win against Whitegrove Pythons. Finchamspstead Athletic A stay 2nd after beating Crownwood Dukes 6-1. Royals and Finch both have 35 points but Royals goal difference is better by 3. Finch have a game in hand. Silver Birch A stay in 3rd place without playing on 29 points but have 3 games in hand over Royals.
