Binfield joined neighbours Bracknell Town in the semi finals of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup after coming from a goal down to beat Hellenic League Division 1 East side Virginia Water 3-1 at Stag Meadow.

Adam McNamara added his 20th goal of the season for the home side but it was his opposite number Ian Davies with his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season either side of a Carlo Santoro strike that won the game for the Moles.

Binfield join Flackwell Heath, Bracknell and either Brimscombe & Thrupp or Thatcham Town in the draw for the semi final which has yet to be made.

Windsor Observer reporter Rob Stevens tweeted: “Moles boss Roger Herridge told me he would love to take his side into another cup final after the Floodlit Cup quarter-final win tonight. It would be his sixth as Binfield manager.”

Elsewhere both AFC Aldermaston and Sandhurst Town exited the Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup after 4-0 and 5-1 defeats. The Atom Men held out against Premier Divison Flackwell until the 37th minute and went in 1-0 down at the break and were unable to find a way back.

Things looked good for Sandhurst when Luke Burrows equalised Penn & Tylers Green’s 15th minute opened on 35 minutes but a second and third goal for the visitors at Bottom Meadow on the stroke of half time sent Penn in 3-1 at half time.

A quick second half double three minutes apart ensured there would be no further progress in the Supp Cup for Luke Turkington’s side.

On Wednesday night, new Bracknell Town boss Carl Davies might just manage his first game as Robins boss with the Larges Lane side up to Brackley Town Saints in the Hellenic League Premier Division – weather permitting.
