Bracknell Town hit 10 and Binfield stage brilliant fight back




Bracknell Town boosted both their title hopes and goal difference at Larges Lane as they found the net ten times in a thumping 10-3 Hellenic League Premier Division victory against Fairford Town while down the road, Binfield staged a tremendous comeback to see off leaders Highworth Town 3-2 and help their local rivals.

Adam Cornell may not have scored since 3rd February but he’s a class act and he showed it today with four goals whilst strike partner TJ Bohane helped himself to a hat-trick. Joe Grant also netted twice with substitute Darren Wheeler lobbing the goalkeeper and missing a penalty on his debut.

Two early goals for the visitors left the Moles in all sorts of trouble but whatever Roger Herridge said at half-time clearly worked as his side struck three unanswered goals after the break for a big win.

Ian Davies started the comeback with a penalty before Sean Moore levelled and Carlo Santoro sealed all three points with four minutes remaining.

Ascot United headed to Wiltshire but suffered a narrow 1-0 loss with the hosts scoring just shy of the interval whilst Woodley United saw their match at Longlevens postponed meaning it’s a frustrating 26 days without a match for them.

In the Buildbase FA Vase, Thatcham Town are through to the final at Wembley after defeating 1874 Northwich 3-2 today and 4-2 on aggregate. Gavin James with two and Shane Cooper-Clark scoring and it’s a massive congratulations from Football in Bracknell to all at Waterside Park.

Windsor entertained Easington Sports in the Bluefin Sports Hellenic Challenge Cup Quarter Finals and ran out 4-1 winners to join Abindon United and Bracknell in the last four.

Matty Woods, Nadir Shafi, Keiran Knight with a penalty and Matty Stockill with the goals whilst Didcot Town Reserves or Thatcham will face BInfield in the last Quarter Final.

In Division 1 East Virginia Water maintained their promotion push as Rich Bond, Josh Guichard and Lorenzo Di Felice ensured a 3-1 victory at Milton United.

Berks County met leaders Woodcote Stoke Row in the Thames Valley Premier League but despite playing really well, two penalties gave the hosts all three points.
