We start this week’s Bracknell Sunday League round-up in the Premier Division where, in the only game played, Morale Madrid severely dented any hopes William Twigg Vets might have had of lifting the title on their return this season to the league, inflicting upon them a crushing 9-2 defeat.

Both semi-finals of the League’s Senior Cup were played today that saw FC Fernhill run-up a double-figure score against Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW to win by 10-2 and in the other tie Golden Farmer Rangers overcame FC Meta by 2-0. Congratulations to Fernhill and Golden Farmer who will contest the Final at Larges Lane in May.

Raglan maintained their unbeaten league season in Division 1 with a 5-2 victory over Finchampstead Athletic Reserves. That win closes the gap between them and WAB at the top to 9 points with Raglan still having 4 games in hand. AFC Crowthorne maintained their own challenge without kicking a ball having been awarded all 3 points following yet another “thrown” game by Ashridge Park.

The most significant game to be played in Division 2 saw Athletico Ascot defeat Braybrooke Athletic 7-0 to move to within 2 points of leaders Woodley United. AFC Crowthorne Reserves stayed 4th following their emphatic 9-1 defeat of Newbold College. Warfield’s game at Berks County was postponed that means Woodley United stay top (P15, Pts35), Warfiled in 2nd (P13, Pts33) and Athletico Ascot 3rd (P16, Pts33).

In Division 3 Woodley Saints maintained their 5 points lead at the top with a 4-1 win over Hope & Anchor whilst 2nd placed Bracknell Corinthians stayed in touch with a 4-3 win against Bracknell Falcons. The Winnersh “derby” between Rangers and Town was postponed.

Significantly in Division 4 Silver Birch A won the days top fixture by 3-1 against Bracknell Royals. Finchampstead Athletic A remain top despite dropping points after a 2-2 draw with FC Harmanswater. In what looks set to be a fight to he finish for the title, the top of trhe table currently looks like this:
Finch A P19 GD25 Pts39
Bracknell Royals P19 GD20 Pts35
Birch A P17 GD17 Pts 35

Midweek preview

This week sees a number of Thursday evening fixtures and we have picked out those that we feel will have the biggest impact at the top of each Division:

In the Premier Division FC Meta (4th), having their best in recent seasons, take on FC Fernhill (5th) who will look to stake a positive challenge for top spot with a win. Fernhill currently trail top team Crowthorne Inn by 13 points but have 5 games in hand.

Loveman United (3rd) will look to salvage something from a season that has taken a dive in recent weeks but face a stiff challenge from a rampant Raglan side who will have sights on the top spot in Division 1.

The top 2 in Division 2 are both in action as Woodley United (top) take on Bracknell Saint-Germain and Warfield United (2nd) and trailing Woodley by 2 points, entertain Berks County.

Woodley Saints will look to stretch their lead at the top of Division 3 to 8 points with a win against Hope & Anchor.

Finally, in Division 4, Silver Birch A could move to within a point of leaders Finhampstead Athletic A with a win against bottom team Bracknell Titans.
