Binfield’s hopes of a top six Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division finish took a heavy blow on Monday night when Highmoor Ibis won 3-2 at Scours Lane.

Ibis were 3-0 on 79 minutes when the Moles were finally able to give themselves a chance, Kane Fitzgerald scoring in the 90th minute and Sanchez Commock doubled the lead in injury time.

The Moles dropped to seventh and a point behind Brimscombe & Thrupp after the Lilywhite’s 4-1 win over Burnham at the weekend. Binfield won’t slip out of the top seven but have one match of the league season left where as Brimscombe have three.

Elsewhere on Monday night, Thatcham Town were officially promoted to the Southern League after a 2-0 win at Highworth Town. Ex Binfield and Bracknell Town striker Liam Ferdinand finally broke the deadlock in injury time with a double strike.

The race is now on between the blues and Bracknell Town for the Hellenic League title.
