Binfield’s final Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division match of the season finished ended in a 2-1 defeat at Longlevens on Saturday.

The Moles were a goal behind after two minutes but had much of the game without testing ‘levens goalkeeper.

The home side doubled the lead on 87 minutes from the penalty spot but there was a lifeline four minutes later when Ian Davies converted the Moles own penalty.

Binfield still have a Floodlit Cup final to look forward to against Thatcham Town before the season is out but manager Roger Herridge lamented his sides form that had seen them slip from an almost certain sixth place finish to seventh.

Elsewhere Woodley United were unable to build on an impressive Thursday night win when Ascot United beat the Kestrels 1-0 at Scours Lane courtesy of a Jonny Denton penalty.

Woodley’s battle against relegation continues a pace – despite the Hellenic League being allowed to extend the season by the Football Association – with a Tuesday night tie at home to Bracknell Town who could seal promotion with a win.

On Friday night the Robins beat Windsor 1-0 at Stag Meadow in front of a bumper 400 plus crowd courtesy of a Seb Bowerman penalty. See Neil Graham’s full gallery from the fixture here.

In Hellenic League Division 1 East AFC Aldermaston secured a point in a 1-1 draw at the Rec Soc with Wallingford Town – Kai Parton-Edey getting on the score sheet while Wokingham & Emmbrook beat Chalfont Wasps 2-0 thanks to goals from James Clarke and Ben Broadhurst.

The big win of the afternoon saw Sandhurst Town beat Penn & Tylers Green 4-1 in the last Hellenic League game to be played at French School Meadows – at least for the time being.

Top scorer Charlie Oakley scored twice while there were goals for Connor Harlowe and Adam Barnard while there was a late debut for youth team player Ollie Tildesley.
