Wokingham & Emmbrook welcomed AFC Aldermaston to Larges lane at the weekend as the two sides kicked off their respective seasons with a local derby. It was the Atom Men who enjoyed the best of the early exchanges and they took the lead as Devonn Reid headed in at the far post from a free kick to make it 1-0.

Just before half time the Satsumas were back in the game as centre back Will Day met a corner at the near post to make it 1-1. In the second half the game was a much more open and there were chances for both teams, but Zach Tull had the last word as he scored direct from a free kick in the 88th minute to win the match for Aldermaston.

Glenn Goudie’s first competitive match in charge of Wallingford Town produced a nine-goal thriller when they welcomed Bicester Town to the Hithercroft. Goals from Charlie Silkstone and Josh Goodhall gave the Wally an early lead, but it they would fall behind before the break as Bicester fought back to make it 3-2 at half time.

In the second half two own goals put Wallingford 4-3 up, but the Foxhunters were not done, and they drew level once more. There was yet another twist in the tale as Boyan Thorpe scored with 10 minutes to go to make the final score Wallingford Town 5 Bicester Town 4.

A goal either side of half time from Johnny Feaver gave Holyport an away victory at Didcot Town Development. The Villages recovered from the early setback of losing Jay Wright to injury after 5 minutes to complete a 2-0 win and to record their first points of the season.

Eversley & California travelled to local rivals Frimley Green as they looked to continue their good league form, however they started poorly and were 1-0 down inside the first 5 minutes. The Boars were soon back on level terms as a cross from Mo Davies was spilt by the keeper and Jamie McCarthy netted to make it 1-1. Six minutes later Frimley were back in front through an own goal and they extended their lead to make it 3-1 at half time. Shortly after the break Dan Melville reduced the deficit, but despite Eversley’s best efforts, Frimley saw out the rest of game to win 3-2.

Sandhurst Town also suffered a defeat away from home as they visited one of the favourites for promotion Bedfont & Feltham. The Yellows had scored 14 goals in their two league games so far this season and they proved too strong for the Fizzers, eventually running out 5-0 winners.

Sandhurst face another tough fixture tonight (Tuesday) as they welcome Farnham Town to Bottom Meadow. Farnham, who were another of the preseason favourites for promotion, have already recorded two wins in two games in the league and were narrowly defeated by local Step 5 side Binfield in the FA Cup. The Fizzers will need to be on top form as they look to get their first league points on the board.

Eversley & California are also in action this evening as they host Andover New Street in the Hampshire Senior Cup. The Street play in the Sydenhams (Wessex) League Premier Division, Step 5 in the non-league pyramid. Andover have endured a tough start to their league campaign, losing their first three matches, but they did record a 4-0 win in the FA Cup over Sydenhams Division One side Romsey Town. The Boars will be hoping for an upset in the cup at the ESA Sports Ground tonight.
