In the Hellenic League Division One East, Wallingford Town and Holyport faced off in the Hithercroft in an even encounter. Early on Port had the best of the game and saw separate efforts come back off the post and the crossbar.

In the second half Wally came back into the game and struck the post and had another shot cleared off the line. With five minutes to play the hosts claimed all three points when a William Clements free kick was headed home by Andrew Mills.

League leaders AFC Aldermaston welcomed Chalvey Sports to the Rec Soc. The Atom Men were the better side in the first half and took the lead on 28 minutes through Jay Welsh, who grabbed his first goal of the season.

After the break Chalvey were in the game a lot more and were able to equalise in midway through the half. The game finished all square and Aldermaston drop to second in the league on goal difference.

Wokingham & Emmbrook and Didcot Town Development shared the points at Larges Lane in a game that was entertaining despite being played in driving rain. After a goalless first half the Sumas opened the scoring from the penalty spot when Sam Lawrence played in Connor Holland who was brought down by the Didcot keeper.

Jake White put away the resulting spot kick. The visitors were able to equalise on 60 minutes, but the Sumas took the lead once more when a quick break saw Holland head the ball over the onrushing keeper and into the net. The home side were not able to see out the game and Didcot equalised once more with two minutes to go. Wokingham finished with 10 men when Joe Cummusky saw red for a foul.

Woodley United’s search for their first points of the season continued with the visit of Penn & Tylers Green to Scours Lane. Penn stated the match with 10 men and an outfield player in goal as they waited for their regular goalkeeper to arrive. With a man advantage the Kestrels started strongly, but completely against the run of play they found themselves behind on 12 minutes.

A few minutes later the visitors’ keeper arrive but Woodley remained on top. The second half was more even, but 20 minutes from time Penn doubled their lead with an unstoppable shot from 30 yards. With Woodley pushing to get back into the game the away side sealed victory with 5 minutes from time after a corner was turned in at the back post.

In the Combined Counties League Division One Sandhurst Town played their first game in two weeks when they hosted Godalming Town at Bottom Meadow. The Fizzers showed no signs of rustiness early on as Charlie Oakley gave them the lead, but the visitors levelled almost immediately.

Sandhurst had shots hit the post and crossbar in quick succession, but the scores stayed level at the break. After the break the G’s took the lead but were soon reduced to 10 men, but despite their man advantage the Fizzers were not able to level. In fact, Godalming extended their lead from a 25-yard free kick to win 3-1.

Eversley & California had a tough trip to Tooting Bec despite having a perfect start to the game. The Boars scored in the first minute but that was to be as good as it got as the host equalised before half time and added three more after the break to win 4-1.
