Ascot United caused a bit of an upset in the first round of the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup, beating Thatcham Town 3-1 at the Racecourse Ground.
The Yellamen bounced back quickly from Saturday’s defeat to knock out the Southern League side who are also the current FA Vase and Hellenic League Premier Division champions.
There was a double for striker Nathan Minhas and a debut goal for Geoff Kibaki on the night while Gareth Thomas scored a consolation for the Kingfishers.
Manager Jamie Tompkins tweeted after the game: “Very pleased to beat last seasons Hellenic League and FA Vase winners comfortably tonight and progress into the next round. Whole squad on top form again.”
Tompkins added: “Wishing James Haworth a speedy recovery from injury.”
