What a way to bounce back from your first Bostik League South Central Division defeat of the season, score seven and go back to the top of the league.

Bracknell Town suffered a 3-2 defeat at Uxbridge on Saturday but bounced back in some style with a 7-1 win in the Waterloo derby (not sure we like that but we’ll see) over Egham Town at Larges Lane on Tuesday night.

Chris Grace returned in goal for the Robins who forced two own goals in the first half, either side of a Liam Ferdinand strike to see the sides go in 3-1 at half time after Ashley Lodge pulled one back.

Goals from Seb Bowerman, Adam Cornell and a Joe Grant double – the latter a fine 86th minute overhead kick sealed the points and sent Bracknell back to the top of the table.

Bracknell captain Dave Hancock tweeted after the match: “That’s how to respond to a defeat. Lads were top class tonight, always looked a threat going forward. Another good crowd down the lane again, best support in the league. Big week of cup games to concentrate on now.”

No joy for Yellamen

In the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup Second Round, Ascot United went down to 3-0 defeat at home to Bostik League Marlow.

The match was interrupted by a floodlight failure that spectator Charlie Craske told Football in Bracknell happened at 1-0 and lasted 10 minutes.

The Yellamen’s first team coach Aaron Steadman said: “As much as it was a free hit today I’m Disappointed with the scoreline, a bit harsh on our lads. Our young squad will have learned a lot from that game. Marlow are a very good side and will be in the mix in the league above for sure.”

In the Senior Trophy, second half goals from Luke Burrows and Paul Rake earned Sandhurst Town a 2-0 win over Holyport after a goalless first half at Summerleaze.

In the Hellenic League Subsidiary Cup Wallingford Town beat Milton United 5-0 and Woodley United beat Thatcham Town Development 2-1 in the Floodlit Cup.
