In the Hellenic League Division One East Wallingford Town produced a flying first half performance to blow away Wokingham & Emmbrook in their match at Larges Lane.

Wally’s top scorer Charlie Silkstone opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a drilled shot into the bottom corner and they doubled their lead on 20 minutes through Ashley Searle. Two minutes later Lawrence Aitchison made it 3-0 as he lobbed Owen Holland in the Suma’s goal from outside the box, and the goal blitz continued on 30 minutes when Luke Williams broke through and finished well to make it 4-0.

“Wokingham were much improved in the second half and got on the scoresheet five minutes after the break when Jake White headed in a Ben Broadhurst free kick. Just before the hour mark Wallingford were reduced to 10 men as Ben Taylor was sent off for a tackle on Will Day and the Sumas took advantage as Joe Cummuskey headed in to make it 4-2 shortly after.

Late in the game White had a goal disallowed but despite the man advantage, Wokingham could not overcome the first half deficit and the game finished 4-2.

Atomics go back to the top

AFC Aldermaston returned to the top of the league with a 3-1 win at Penn & Tylers Green. Anton Rodgers, who was returning after a trial with Falkirk, gave the Atom Men the lead on 20 minutes, but Penn were quickly back on level terms. Phillip John restored Aldermaston’s lead from the penalty spot on 31 minutes and a Sam Bangura strike secured the victory just after half time.

Woodley United continued their upturn in fortunes with a 3-1 away win at Chinnor. After a goalless first half Sam Guze opened the scoring for the Kestrels from the penalty spot on 51 minutes. Max Lashock doubled the lead with a close-range effort on 73 minutes, and Freddie Barron made it 3-0 with ten minutes to go, converting a defence splitting pass from Chase Jewell. Chinnor did get one back late on but it was nothing more than a conciliation.

The victory was Woodley’s fifth in seven games and sees them leapfrog Chinnor to jump off the bottom of the table. The report on Woodley’s draw with Wallingford on Monday night is here.

Fizzers continue upward trajectory

In the Combined Counties League Division One Sandhurst Town welcomed league leaders Sheerwater to Bottom Meadow. The Fizzers have been in fine form of late, only losing one league game since mid-August and winning their last four.

In a keenly contested game Sandhurst took the lead in the 22nd minute through October player of the month Mitchell Cooper, and they made it 2-0 when a Charlie Oakley through ball was lifted over the keeper by Haydon Richardson. There were no further goals in the second half meaning Sandhurst recorded an impressive win that sees them climb to seventh in the table.

Eversley & California’s game with Chessington & Hook United was abandoned after 55 minutes due to heavy rain making the pitch unplayable. The Boars were 2-0 up with Brad Brown having scored both goals but unfortunately the game will have to be replayed at a later date.

Combined Counties League Division One

  • Eversley & California A-A Chessington & Hook United
  • Sandhurst Town 2-0 Sheerwater

Hellenic League Division One East
