Wallingford Town and AFC Aldermaston met at the Hithercroft, in a game between promotion hopefuls in the Hellenic League Division One East.

The first half was an even encounter and looked to be heading into the break without a goal for either side before Jamel Forde-Small put the Atom Men 1-0 up in the 42nd minute.

Shortly after the break Josh Blackwood made it 2-0 for the visitors, but Wally were able to reduce the deficit when Ashley Searle converted from the spot.

However, Aldermaston restored their two-goal advantage five minutes later when Forde-Small got his second and his sides third. Aldermaston closed out the game to score an impressive 3-1 victory.

Holyport make it five in a row

Holyport continued their fine run of form by scoring a thumping win over the leagues bottom side Chinnor. Port took the lead after 14 minutes when Sam Whitfield headed in a Fabian Driffill cross and Steven Deverall doubled their advantage four minutes later.

Jonny Feaver made it 3 after 25 minutes with a sliding finish from a Driffill through ball, and the striker then turned provider as his cut back was converted by Deverall just before half time. Shortly after the break Alan Ackerman got his name on the scoresheet when he headed home a

cross to make it 5-0 and complete the scoring in a big win for Holyport.

In the other Hellenic League Division One East match with local interest, Wokingham & Emmbrook hosted Abingdon Town at Larges Lane. The Sumas had an early setback as striker Jake White sustained an injury and had to be substituted, but it was to be his replacement, James Clark, who would open the scoring from the penalty spot.

Just before half time Ellis Day made it 2-0 when he drove in a powerful shot from 20 yards. After half time Elliot Rushforth added a third with a nice curled finish following a smart passing move. Despite the Sumas being well on top for the first hour the Abbotts were able to grab two quick goals to make the last 10 minutes a nervy affair.

The tension escalated when goalkeeper Owen Holland was given a second yellow card, but Wokingham were able to hold on for a win that sees them leapfrog their opponents into 5th in the league table.
