Congratulations to Loveman United who fought off the challenge of Maidenhead Cosmos to book their place in the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup semi-final.
United led 3-0 before being reduced to 10 players following the sending-off of Lee Blackman after 20 minutes of play. Loveman held on though to win through by 4-2 through goals by Ben Poynter (2 – pictured top), Les Sykes and Tom McGuire. FC Fernhill strengthened their position at the top of the Premier Division with a 2-0 win against FC Meta. Finchampstead Athletic, 2nd at the start of the day, were defeated 5-3 by Panthers, who appear to have got their season off and running, whilst Crowthorne Inn were held to a 2-2 draw by WAB. WAB’s goal scorers were Luc Dwelly and Lenny Musgrove.
Raglan moved into 2nd following their 7-0 demolition of Golden Farmer Rangers. The other game played in the division saw Morale Madrid register a 3-1 win away at Athletico Forest.
With Loveman in Cup action Finchampstead Athletic Reserves moved back to the top of Division 1 with a 4-0 win against Winkfield. Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW lost ground, going down 2-4 to Woodley United whilst AFC Crowthorne Stiffs closed up on the leading 3 with a resounding 5-0 win at home to Panthers Reserves. Finchampstead’s lead at the top is 2 points from Loveman in 2nd who have 4 games in hand over the leaders.
Sandhurst FFC made a huge statement so far as their title credentials in Division 2 go by beating 2nd placed Moore Close Manor 2-0. Sandhurst, who remain one of only two unbeaten teams in the League (FC Fernhill are the other), stretched their lead at the top to 6 points. Third placed Golden Farmer Rangers won at Bracknell Corinthians (2-1) and remain 10 points adrift of Sandhurst.
Bracknell Cavaliers won the big game in Division 3 by 3-1 over Bearwood Wanderers, who led the table at the start of the day. That victory put Cavaliers top whilst Braybrooke Athletic moved into 2nd following their 4-2 win against Winnersh Town. Three points separate the top 3 though Bearwood have two games in hand.
Crownwood Dukes remain top of Division 4 after securing their first win of 2019, 2-0 against 2nd placed FC Harmanswater. Dukes again moved clear, by 3 points, at the top of the table. Bracknell Titans remain pointless though pushed Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves all the way, finally succumbing to a 1-3 defeat.
