It’s been a sad week for those connected to Thatcham Town following the passing of Dave Clark. A loyal fan, a passionate football man who loved supporting the club no matter where or when. The tributes on social media from current and former players/mangers, fellow fans, friends and obviously family will tell you how much he was admired.

Dave would have thoroughly enjoyed Saturday’s result for sure. Despite having a few first team regulars unavailable, Thatcham Town won 2-1 at Street, a huge win which moved The Kingfishers up to tenth in the Southern League.

Shane Cooper-Clark gave Thatcham an early advantage from the spot before Kyle Tooze tucked away a pinpoint cross from George Jeacock.

Street reduced arrears with a wonderful strike from long range just before the break. The second half was always going to be a test with just one goal in it, especially against a team who impressed at Waterside Park earlier in the season.

The hosts piled on the pressure creating a number of good chances against a Thatcham defence which included two debutants in Sonnie Low and Jon Beeden. Goalkeeper Chris Rackley standing out in particular with a brilliant penalty save. Time will tell but a save which could prove to be massive when looking back at the end of the season.

Newbury were back in league action following the disappointment of last weeks Berks and Bucks Cup exit.

A Russell Benham hat trick plus a goal from Dan Donegan giving The Town a 4-0 win away to FC Imaan Lions.

That’s now eleven wins on the bounce in The Thames Valley Premier League for Newbury who this week announced Danny Pearce as assistant manager to Danny Langford.

Hungerford Town, not for the first time this season were on the wrong side of a controversial decision during their 3-1 defeat to Chippenham Town.

Forward man Danilo Orsi-Dadomo put Hungerford in front with an early goal before the game changing incident. On 42 minutes Cameron Hargreaves received a straight red for innocuous challenge.

In a game where former Crusader Nat Jarvis score a brace the result means Hungerford slip back into the bottom three.

What next? Here’s all the midweek fixtures locally.
