In the Uhlsport Hellenic Division One East Holyport were playing their first league game in 3 weeks, but there was no sign of any rustiness as they romped to a 7-0 victory at Abingdon Town.

Two goals apiece from Fabian Driffill and Jamie Handscome plus a Steve Deverell strike saw Port 5-0 up at half time. In the second half Joshua Lowther and Matthew Ensby (pictured above) both got on the scoresheet, but the victory was overshadowed by what looked to be a serious injury to Adam Sharpe who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle after a bad challenge.

The win sees Holyport climb to 7th in the table with games in hand over most of the sides above them.

In the Combined Counties Division One a much-improved performance from Eversley & California helped them earn a valuable point at home to Dorking Wanderers Reserves as they continue in their bid to avoid relegation.

A frantic opening 10 minutes saw 3 goals being scored and it was the visitors who struck first, taking the lead after 5 minutes. Brad Brown lobbed the Dorking goalkeeper 3 minutes later to level the scores, but Wanderers restored their lead almost immediately. Just before half time the Boars equalised once more when Ali Dickie fired through a crowd of players to make it 2-2.

In the second half Eversley were on top but they were unable to add to their goal tally and the score remained 2-2 at full time.

Sandhurst also recorded a 2-2 score line in their match at home to Ash United, however the Fizzers will be disappointed not to have taken all 3 points as they let an early 2 goal lead slip. Sandhurst were ahead on 5 minutes when Luke Cox played in Paul Rake to score, and it was 2-0 before the 20-minute mark when Luke Turner pounced on a loose ball to fire into the top corner.

Ash grabbed one back just before the break when a wind assisted corner found its way straight into the net, and they scored their second 15 minutes from time. The result means that Ash are still 2 points and 1 place above Sandhurst in the table.

In the Supplementary Cup, two goals from Charlie Silkstone helped Wallingford Town to a win away at Hellenic Premier side Flackwell Heath. Silkstone scored a tap in after just 5 minutes and doubled his tally just before half time to give Wally a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Flackwell did get a goal back with 10 minutes to play but Wallingford held out to secure a place in the semi-finals.

In another Supplementary Cup quarter-final Woodley United travelled to Hellenic Division Two East side Stokenchurch. Max Laschok gave the Kestrels the lead on 19 minutes with his 18th goal of the season, but the home side equalised before half time leaving the scores level at the break.

There was drama late in the game as Woodley had a goal ruled out before Stokenchurch went down the other end to score a last-minute winner. Stokenchurch will now host Wallingford in the semi-finals.

AFC Aldermaston’s trip to Woodcote Stoke Row in the Reading Senior Cup was postponed as the hosts were not able to raise a side.
