What a weekend for the West Berkshire trio.

Hungerford Town ruined many a betting coupon when winning 2-1 at big spending Billericay Town in the National League South. That’s now four unbeaten for Hungerford with back-to-back wins, highly impressive form considering their predicament at such a crucial part of the season.

Trailing from a Billericay goal via Adam Coombes it was top scorer Danilo Orsi-Dadamo who equalised for Hungerford from the spot on 87 minutes with a cooly taken penalty. That wasn’t the end of the drama, in added time the same man was on the scoresheet again with another goal to see The Crusaders over the line with a huge win.

Thatcham Town also put in one of their best performances of the season when beating top of the table Blackfield and Langley 1-0 at Waterside Park. With Shane Cooper-Clark ruled out through injury it was Kyle Tooze who stole the show with a quite brilliant performance playing as the lone frontman.

The recent signing from Mangotsfield worked tirelessly throughout and was involved in the winning goal when setting up Jack Alexander to prod home on 75 minutes. The visitors pushed for an equaliser but the defensive unit of Michael Miller, Jordan Williams, Gareth Thomas, Jon Beeden and on loan AFC Bournemouth ‘keeper Calum Ward stood to their task and snuffed out any danger. The win lifts Thatcham up to 12th in the Southern League.

Newbury got back to winning ways after last weeks disappointment with an emphatic 5-1 win away to Eldon Celtic in the Thames Valley Premier League One.

Russell Benham scoring four with Dan Donegan also getting on the scoresheet. The win has pretty much secured promotion for Newbury who lie two points behind Maidenhead Town with six games in hand.
