All three teams at the top of Bracknell Town & District Sunday League Division 1 won their games to increase the excitement and tension in the run-in to the end of the competition.

Leaders Berks County stretched their impressive winning run to 9 games beating 6th placed Bracknell Athletic by 3-2. Second placed Loveman United were made to work hard for their 1-0 win away at Woodley United, Ben Poynter getting the all-important goal from the penalty spot and remain in second, level on points with County.

AFC Crowthorne Stiffs, with a game in hand, beat Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW by 2-1 and remain in 3rd, 3 points behind the top two.

With 3 games still to play, Woodley Saints moved into 4th place in Division 2 following their 3-1 away win at Bracknell Corinthians and look favourites to finish as runners-up behind Champions Sandhurst FFC.

At the top of Division 3 Bracknell Cavaliers, needing to win to keep up any hopes of pipping leaders Bearwood to the title, slipped up in defeat by 3-1 to Winnersh Town. With one game still to play, Bearwood Wanderers were confirmed Champions.

Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves of Division 4 caused a minor upset in the Subsidiary Cup, beating Running Horse of Division 3 by 3-2. That win sets up a quarter-final tie for Cavs with Moore Close Manor of Division 2.

Congratulations to FC Fernhill who have made it back-to-back finals in the Aldershot Cup by defeating Waterloo 6-3 in this mornings semi-final. Fernhill, with the Premier Division title already in the bag, will look to make it a treble with the Aldershot Cup Final, to be played at the Recreation Ground, Aldershot Town FC on Sunday 5th May and the League Advantage Printroom Senior Cup Final (v. Finchampstead Athletic) on Friday 10th May.

And next week……

Tuesday night (9th) sees three games, one in the Premier Division as Panthers complete their campaign with a home fixture against Champions FC Fernhill, in Division 1 Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW host Winkfield as well as the one remaining 1st round tie in the Subsidiary Cup between Silver Birch A and Bracknell Saint Germain, both of Division 3, where the winners will play Silver Birch Vets in the quarter final.

Next Sunday sees two teams play for County Cup honours with Bearwood Wanderers taking on Jolly Sportsman in the final of the Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy (KO 11.00am) whilst Loveman United face Three Horseshoes in the final of the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup (KO 2.30pm). Both finals are being played at Arbour Park, Slough Town FC. Good look to both Bearwood and Loveman in their respective finals.

In the Premier Division Morale Madrid will look to complete a league double over FC Fernhill and give themselves the chance of finishing runners-up.

In Division 1, leaders Berks County travel to play AFC Crowthorne Stiffs (3rd). With 3 points separating the two teams, and Stiffs having a game in hand, the team winning this fixture will put down a huge marker for how the Division might be settled. Elsewhere, Wokingham & Emmbrook host Bracknell Athletic.

In Division 2, a win for Woodley Saints at home against 3M will confirm Saints as runners-up.

Finally, two quarter-final ties are to be played in the Subsidiary Cup as Moore Close Manor (Div 2) take on Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves (Div 4) whilst AFC Crowthorne Old Boys host Crownwood Dukes in an all Division 4 tie.
