Congratulations to Bracknell Town & District Sunday League sides Bearwood Wanderers and Loveman United who both won their respective County Cup Finals at Slough Town FC on Sunday.

A collection was made on the day that, combined with that made by Three Horseshoes, Loveman’s opponents, ahead of their Final, raised a combined total of almost £1000 for various charities, including SANDS, the charity supported by Loveman United.

Bearwood dominated their Final tie in the Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Trophy, beating Jolly Sportsman 3-1. Taking a 3-0 lead through goals by Callum Wright (2) and Bradley Fuller, Sportsman scored a late consolation goal to cause Wanderers only minor concern. Football in Bracknell’s Man of the Match was Bearwood’s Jimmy Craske who didn’t put a foot wrong at left back.

Loveman’s final tie in the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup proved to be a much tighter affair, Loveman winning by 2-1 through goals by Les Sykes and Sam Holloway. Football in Bracknell’s Man of the Match was Loveman’s Tom McGuire, solid in central defence throughout.

The days big game in Division 1 saw leaders Berks County and 3rd placed AFC Crowthorne Stiffs battle out a 4-4 draw, this after County had led 4-0 for Stifffs to put in a storming last 20 minutes to draw the game level.

Elsewhere Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW beat Bracknell Athletic 7-3. Berks County (37 points) stay top by 1 point ahead of Loveman United (36 points) who have a game in hand. Stiffs remain in 3rd on 34 points and have two to play. Stiffs and Loveman play each other in a huge game on Tuesday night.

Woodley Saints cinched runners-up spot in Division 2 with a 5-1 win against 3M.

The two quarter final ties played in the Subsidiary Cup saw wins for both Crownwood Dukes (5-1 v AFC Crowthorne Old Boys) and Moore Close Manor (3-2 v Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves).

Moore Close will now play FC Harmanswater in the semi-final whilst Crownwood Dukes will play the winners of the Silver Birch A (Div 3) v Silver Birch 1st (Div 4) quarter final tie, to be played this Tuesday evening. Both semi-final ties are to be played on Sunday 28th April.
