A moment of quality from McKoy Palmer sent Reading City on their way to three points at home to Lydney Town on Saturday at Scours Lane.
City had been the dominant side in the first half of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division clash but it was Lydney who took the lead in the second half with a penalty when previously a goalless draw had looked the most likely outcome.
Minutes later though, Reading were level after great work down the left by McKoy Palmer who cut inside and fired across the goalkeeper.
Shortly after Josh Blackwood hit the post in a bit of a statement of intent from Simon Johnson’s side and when Matt Stockill broke away down the right it was 2-1 to the Citizens.

Elsewhere Binfield fought back from 2-0 down in their home tie with top of the table Westfields but a late winner for the visitors ensure the Moles unbeaten start to the season ended with a 3-2 defeat.
Windsor took the points at home to Shrivenham after a three goal salvo in the last 20 minutes. Shrivvy lead 2-1 after William Turl’s opened for the Royalists but Keaton August, Dylan Ive and Richard Lazarczuk scored to take the points.

In the Isthmian League South Central Division Bracknell Town had to fight back from 2-0 down at Chalfont St Peter after Kofi Quartey put the hosts in front in the first and 18th minute.
Nathan Minhas replied a minute later for the Robins while Dan Bayliss levelled things up on 36 minutes.
In the Southern League, Thatcham Town drew 1-1 at Melksham Town with Felipe Barcelos scoring an equaliser before being shown a second yellow card for a late challenge. The Kingfishers had earlier seen Scott Rees sent off.
In the FA Cup, a brace from Ben Harris and Manny Williams 100th goal for the Rebels saw them through their FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie at Flackwell Heath, but Hungerford Town will go no further after defeat at Poole Town, Liam Ferdinand on hand with what was a consolation for the Crusaders.
