Reading City u23 stay top despite Windlesham United defeat

A surprise defeat for leaders Reading City under 23s on Saturday in the Thames Valley Premier League didn’t dislodge the Citizens from the top of the table but it did push Windlesham United up the table while Mortimer registered a first league win of the season and Berks County kept up the pace at the top of the table with three points.

Finchampstead 0 Berks County 1

A 36th minute strike from Tom Nower was enough to hand the Swords all three points at Memorial Park in Finchampstead on Saturday. Berks County now move into 3rd place, just two points off leaders Reading City U23 who have played two games more.

Richings Park 3 Cookham Dean 3

A ding-dong battle between Richings Park and Cookham Dean ended in a 3 all draw. Dean’s goals came from Joseph Newman, Kyle Haggis and Dean Knight. The home side’s goals were scored by Ben Wheeler, Dan Retter and Tom Kenton.

Windlesham United 1 Reading City U23 0

The shock of the day came at Windlesham where league leaders Reading City U23 lost by one goal to nil. It was Windlesham’s Jack Foster who scored the home side’s goal to consign Reading City to only their second league defeat of the season.

Woodcote 3 Burghfield 1

Sam Tucker.

A solid 3-1 victory for Woodcote whose manger Sam Tucker resigned after the match. A brace from Josh Beisly and a strike from Carl Self for the home side. Burghfield’s goal was scored by Dominic McKenzie

Wraysbury Village 0 Mortimer 1

The clash of the Villages in Wraysbury on Saturday saw away side Mortimer record their first league victory of the season with James Atkinson the goalscorer.

BBFA Senior Cup

Kennington United 1 Westwood Wanderers 3

A brace from Scotty Warick and a goal from Matty Evans were enough for Westwood Wanderers to emerge 3-1 victors at Kennington United in the BBFA Senior Cup.

BBFA Intermediate Cup

Westwood Wanderers Reserves 2 Woodley United Royals 4

Royals had a chance to put their league woes behind them with a convincing 4-2 victory over Westwood Wanderers Reserves.

A hat-trick for Dylan Chafflin and a solitary strike for Leo Richardson enough to see Woodley United Royals into the next round.

Maidenhead & Norfolkonian Senior Cup

Hounslow Wanderers 1 Maidenhead Town 2

Maidenhead march into the quarter finals with an impressive 2-1 victory at Hounslow Wanderers. Duarte Surpanu with his 19th in 30 games for the club and Alexander Yankov with the goals for Town.
