Reading City under 23s maintained their position at the top of the Thames Valley Premier League on Saturday but have the sides from second to sixth hot on their heals having played two more games than most this season so far.

None of the sides in that group though were really able to make up any ground, instead it was Mortimer at the other end of the table who earned a valuable point at Berks County.

Berks County 1 Mortimer 1

County dominated Saturday afternoon’s fixture at a very wet Ryeish Green Sports Hub. A first-half Tom Nower goal saw Berks County lead at the break but a spirited second period comeback from Mortimer saw the Villagers come away with an unlikely point with an injury time own goal.

Finchampstead 1 Westwood Wanderers 1

A tightly contested game at Finchampstead saw the spoils shared. The home goal was scored by James Payne with the away strike from Ross Storrar.

Maidenhead Town 3 Richings Park 3

A stoppage time equaliser from Richings Park saw the away side save a point at Bisham Abbey on Saturday. Mitchell Burley, Aleksandar Yankov and Cameron Netherwood-Meek scored the home side’s goals with Daniel Sanchez, John Swift and Billy Hanley scoring fo the away side.

Woodley United Royals 5 Burghfield 1

Royals earned their second league win of the season in enfatic style with a 5-1 victory over Burghfield. Another hat-trick from Dylan Chaffin and goals from Ben Anderson and Sam Guze handed all three points to the home side. Burghfield’s consolation was scored by Iain McCulley.

Wraysbury Village 1 Reading City U23 2

League leaders Reading City’s great run continued on Saturday with a 2-1 victory against Wraysbury at the Memorial Ground. Jude Van Spall and Marco Desousa with teh goals for City. Darren Kuti scored Wraysbury Village’s consolation.

Oxfordshire Senior Cup

Mansfield Road 1 Woodcote 2

Goals from James Worksfold and the prolific Jake Dillion saw Woodcote come away with a 2-1 victory at Mansfield Road in the second round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

Surrey Intermediate Cup

Staines Lammas 6 Windlesham United 0

A tough afternoon for Thames Valley League’s Windlesham United who were beaten by six goals to nil at the Lucas Pavilion. The Lammas goals came from Kiril with a brace, Matt Adams with two, Joe Cropper and Paul Bartholomew also on the scoresheet.
