The opening 15 minutes at Hill Farm Lane suggested the FA Vase tie between Binfield and AFC Uckfield Town might be quite a cagey affair decided by perhaps one moment of magic.

The reality was though, that from the moment Josh Howell was felled in the penalty box on 35 minutes, dusted himself off and converted the spot kick it was game over.

Binfield controlled the game at 1-0 up, Uckfield appeared to lack discipline or control, particularly in defence where arguments were audible.

Sean Moore made it safe early in the second half when he looped a header over Phil Hawkins.

Howell then made it 3-0, again from the penalty spot after substitute Jemel Johnson was brought down by Hawkins and Josh Helmore, unshackled from full back Dee Okojie who had been pushed further upfield made it safe with the fourth.

It was a good win for the Moles who now face the slightly more daunting task of Vanarama National League Maidenhead United on Tuesday night in the County Cup.

Ascot United’s Vase run ended in Kent at Corinthian, the Yellamen were a goal down Ian Davies equalised but the hosts scored 2-1 and that is how it finished.

The draw for the Fourth Round will be made on Monday 2nd December.
