It remains tight at the top of the Thames Valley Premier League with six points separating first and fourth, but Maidenhead Town were unable to capitalise on a lack of match action for the top three (though Reading City under 23 did manage a win) with a draw at home to Finchampstead.

There was some controversy at Newbury as their game was abandoned late on against Mortimer while Burghfield picked up three points at Wraysbury.

Thames Valley Premier Division

Maidenhead Town 1 – 1 Finchampstead

An injury time equaliser from Finch’s James Payne handed the away side a share of the spoils at Bisham Abbey. Finchampstead are in 6th and Maidenhead Town in 4th. The result sees Finchampstead five games unbeaten going into the new year.

Newbury FC A – A Mortimer

Newbury vs Mortimer was abandoned with a few minutes remaining after a flurry of red cards. The away side were leading 4-3 at the time. It’ll be up to the league to decide whether this game should be replayed at a later date.

Richings Park 1 – 1 Windlesham United

Draw specialists Richings Park played out their seventh draw of the season on Saturday against Windlesham United.

Woodley United Royals 0 – 3 Reading City U23

Reading City U23 ran out convincing winners in the Reading derby. All three of the away side’s goals were scored in the first half by Jehmeil McNeil, Jude Van Spall and Harry Peters. Reading City now lie in third place, three points behind leaders Westwood Wanderers.

Wraysbury Village 1 – 3 Burghfield FC

Burghfield followed up their 1-0 victory over Richings Park last weekend with a 3-1 win at Wraysbury. Burghfield have now leapfrogged Wraysbury Village in the table and now lie in 10th position while Wraysbury are in 11th.
