On Saturday Holyport made a statement of intent by climbing into the promotion spots with a big win over Abingdon Town. Andy Forisky and Lee Ovens had given Port a 2-0 lead at the break before the floodgates opened in the second half.

In a 13-minute period Holyport added 4 more goals with Fabian Driffill grabbing a brace, one either side of two Forisky strikes that saw the striker complete his hat-trick. The win lifts Port into 4th position in the league, with games in had over two of the sides above them and whets the appetite for next weekend’s visit of second placed Abingdon United to Summerleaze Village.

Abingdon United have not lost in the league in nearly three months and their fine form continued on Saturday as they win at home against Wokingham & Emmbrook.

A goal early in the first half and a second late in the game was enough to get past the Sumas who were not able to get much going on the day. Wokingham remain firmly in contention to go up, sitting three points of the promotion places in 6th, and like Holyport they have games in hand over most of the teams above them.

At the other end of the table Woodley United secured a much needed three points with a home win over fellow strugglers Langley. At halftime it looked like it was going to be a straightforward result for the Kestrels as they lead 3-0 though two goals from Max Laschok and one for Ben Anderson, however Jahdd Thomas reduced the deficit for the visitors from the spot on 83 minutes and scored again just into injury time to set up a nervy final few minutes.

4 minutes into injury time Laschok put the home side at ease by completing his hat-trick from the spot and giving Woodley a 4-2 win that lifts them off the bottom of the table.

At Arbour park fans were treated to the proverbial game of two halves as Chalvey Sports took on Thame Rangers. It was the visitors who had the better of the first period, scoring two goals without response to leave them in control at the break, but the Stabmonks were back in the game shortly after half time when Tom Jansons scored to halve the deficit.

Jansons popped up again on 82 minutes to draw the home side level before Jamie Earis completed the turn around two minutes from time to give Chalvey a valuable 3 points and keep them in the promotion chase.

If the game at Chalvey was not enough for the cliché hunters, then the Sandhurst Town’s trip to FC Deportivo Galicia in the Combined Counties League Division One was even more extreme. The Fizzers went into the break trailing by 4 goals to nil as the home after a half that could be generously described as not their best, but the second half saw them embark on an unlikely comeback. It took until the 67th minute for Sandhurst to get on the scoresheet when Danny Horscroft headed in a Danny Turner cross.

Horscroft doubled his tally from the spot in the 83rd minute, with Sandhurst’s first successful penalty out of three that they were awarded on the day, and the striker completed his hat-trick on 87 minutes when he turned in a headed assist from Turner. Deep into injury time, with Sandhurst pushing for an equaliser, the broke to Joe Barley at the corner of the area and the right back struck the ball into to top corner to secure a draw that looked almost unachievable at half time.
