Bracknell Town looked to keep their positive run on track against Chertsey Town, the team one place above them in this BetVictor South Central Division match, where both sides looked similarly matched if you looked at the pre-match statistics.

The Robins came out of the blocks the fastest and it was the Curfews who found themselves having to defend as balls into their area which resulted in Max Herbert having a shot blocked, and Michael Atkinson watching his attempt go over the bar.

Mickel Platt had a shot charged down by Nicky Jupp, and then hit a ball across the six yard box which was just beyond the reach of Seb Bowerman at the far post.

Atkinson had another shot which came through a crowd of players and hit an unsighted Jupp in the chest, before Scott Rees hit his shot over the bar from distance.

It was nearly 25 minutes in before Chertsey got their first sight of goal when Casey Maclaren worked space for himself, but his shot was blocked.

At the other end Herbert, Bowerman and Platt all took the chance to shoot, but none of them caused Jupp to make a save.

As The Curfews grew into the game Lubomir Guentchev took a free kick which was cleared, and their top scorer Jake Baxter broke into the area, but the defence shepherded the ball out.

Dan Carr hit a shot which yet again went over, and as the half came to a close he looked to lob beyond Jupp into the far top corner, but the keeper was equal to it.

Initially the second half didn’t have the same fizz as the first had shown, so it wasn’t until Guentchev hit another free kick into the box that things started to liven up as it landed at the feet of Matt Drage, but somehow he missed from two yards out.

Suddenly The Robins were pushed back, and corner kick routine seemed to have caught them out, but a last ditch challenge saw the ball cleared.

With Wilko encouraging from the sideline the home side looked to break the deadlock and Bowerman delivered two free kicks the first was headed over by new signing Luke Holness, whilst Joy Mukena headed the second one wide.

Alan Musoke did brilliantly to hound the defender into making an error and then strode into the box from the left, but chose to shoot straight at Jupp from a tight angle when other options were available.

Down the left again and Rees worked his way down to the bye-line and pulled the ball back to Holness, but somehow he missed his kick with goal gaping.

Baxter looked to capitalise on the chance to break, but his shot was blocked away.

Musoke was causing issues for the Chertsey defenders, and he had two half chances to get a shot away the second of which resulted in a corner kick.

Although the set piece was cleared it came out to Caden Genovesi and he hit a goal bound effort, only for a defender to stick out a leg and knock it wide.

Maclaren hit a shot straight at Jason Matthews who was happy to collect it.
The final action of the match saw Bowerman hit a cross in from deep, but Holness couldn’t get his header on target.

It certainly didn’t take Luca long to choose his Man of the Match this week as he plumped for the ever troublesome Seb Bowerman who was the only player to put the ball in the net, only for the Referee’s Assistant to raise his flag to say that it had gone out of play during the build up.
