The race is on for top spot in the Thames Valley Premier League and it’s advantage Westwood Wanderers after the Reading based side beat nearest rivals Berks County on Saturday.

As well as all the league action, there were two Berkshire Trophy Centre Senior Cup ties at the weekend with Richings Parks and Reading City u23s moving in to the Third Round.

Thames Valley Premier League

Berks County 1 Westwood Wanderers 3

The top of the table clash at Ryeish Green Sports Hub ended in a 3-1 victory for away side Westwood Wanderers. A brace from Ross Storrar who now has 19 goals for the season and an own goal handed Wanderers the win. Westwood now sit three points clear of Berks County who are in second with a game in hand.

Cookham Dean 2 Mortimer 2

In form Dean who had won three league games in a row prior to Saturday were held by Mortimer. Cookham Dean’s goals were scored by Jack Adler with Stefan Allen and James Croft scorign the goals for the away side.

Newbury 0 Wraysbury Village 0

Newbury recorded their second goalless draw in three games and are now four without a win after their 0-0 tie with Wraysbury on Saturday. Newbury sit in 6th place while Wraysbury are in 12th, two places above bottom spot.

Windlesham United 2 Maidenhead Town 4

In the highest scoring game of the day title chasing Maidenhead Town scored four at Windlesham. Goals from Jake Wheeler, Ryan Adams, Sam Adams and Mitchell Burley for the away side with Terry Brooks and David Charalambous on target for United who remain one of bottom in 13th place.

Woodcote 0 Finchampstead 3

An excellent 3-0 victory for Finch at Woodcote on Saturday. Prolific James Payne was at it again with another goal for Finchampstead. The away side’s other goals were scored by Ellis Willett and Alex Woodhead.

Berkshire Trophy Centre Senior Cup

Burghfield 1 Richings Park 2

Richings Park made it through to the next round of the league cup with an away victory at Burghfield on Saturday. The home side had taken the lead through Luke Stroud, but Burghfield ended the game down to ten men. Goals for John Swift and Billy Hanley were enough to see Park through to the next round.

Reading City U23 5 Woodley United Royals 0

A difficult cup tie for Woodley United Royals who were convincingly beaten by Reading City. Bottom of the TVPL Woodley will now have a chance to concentrate on improving their league position in the coming weeks.
