Maidenhead United’s Vanarama National League play-off hopes suffered a second blow after the Magpies lost 2-1 at Weymouth on Good Friday.

James Comley returned to the starting line-up after missing the Altrincham game on international duty with Montserrat while new loan signing Alfie Egan was on the bench.

Sam Barratt had a couple of efforts in the first half but the game remained goalless at half time, until a Barratt corner found its way in to the net on 49 minutes.

Maidenhead we’re reduced to 10-men just before the hour when Manny Parry was shown a straight red card for a challenge but it was the 86th minute when the home side found an equaliser.

The winner came, agonisingly so for Maidenhead, in the 94th minute when captain Alan Massey was adjudged to have fouled in the area and the resulting penalty was converted.
