An action-packed weekend for Eversley & California Ladies as they travelled to Winklebury Football Complex in Basingstoke on Friday having secured a place in the Hampshire Women’s Trophy 2019/20 final against Bournemouth Sports Reserves.
A lively game saw the Boars go ahead in the twentieth minute and maintain a strong presence on the pitch before conceding a goal shortly before the 80th minute against the run of play. With no extra time it was straight to penalties and the ladies clinched the trophy win 3-2 in the shootout.
No time to rest however, as the Boars looked to their double header against Wargrave Women. Eversley currently sit fifth in Division One of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League, while Wargrave find themselves in 8th. The first game saw Eversley secure a narrow victory as the game finished 1-0 before a 30 minute break ensued.
Football in Berkshire went along to watch the second of the two double games and an action-packed match it was indeed, six goals in total including a penalty. The fixture was fairly evenly matched for much of the 60 minutes with the two sides tag-teaming for goals. However, Eversley came out on top with two goals in quick succession in the final 10 minutes to secure the 2-4 win. You can see all our match updates including the goals if you head to the Women’s Football in Berkshire twitter account.
The club are also currently recruiting for coaching staff as they look to be promoted, subject to FA approval, to the Southern Region Women’s Football League and start up a Reserve side for the coming season, more information is available here.
