Ascot United made it four Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North wins in a row on Saturday, beating North Greenford United 3-2 at the Racecourse Ground to continue their climb up the table.

Harry Laflin scored twice for the Yellamen from Chris Ellis throws but it was Sam Gray who was the hero in his 100th game for the club, saving a penalty with the scores at 0-0 and pulling off an impressive double save at the end of the game that would have pulled the visitors level.

As it was, Ascot went in 2-1 at half-time and then extended the lead through Sean McCormack after the break from a cross by Keaton August who was later sent off for a high boot.

Prior to August’s sending off, North Greenford pulled one back and only Gray’s double save ensure the three points were Ascot’s.

There were plenty of goals at Wokingham & Emmbrook, the Sumas drew 3-3 with Edgware Town at Lowther Road, a double from Jake White and another from Nathan Mindomba ensured Wokingham’s league revival continued while Adam McNamara and Joel Drew both scored as Virginia Water beat Wembley 2-1 at Stag Meadow.

The division’s top two, Hanworth Villa and St Panteleimon inflicted heavy defeats on Berkshire sides, the former beating Reading City 4-0 while the latter beat Windsor 5-0.

Finishing the round-up, Holyport lost 2-0 on the road at Abbey Rangers and Tadley Calleva lost their first game under new management 2-1 at CB Hounslow United.
