The top division in the Thames Valley Premier League is wide open after seven games, just how we like it, with four points separating first and sixth while only Woodley United Royals and Mortimer have negative goal differences in double figures, though the latter sprung a bit of a surprise in what looks an ultra-competitive division this season.

Mortimer 1 Burghfield 0

Burghfield could have gone top had they won the West Berkshire derby, however, Mortimer had other ideas. An early strike from veteran striker James Croft proved to be enough as the away side couldn’t breach the Villagers defence.

Reading City U23 0 Reading YMCA 1

The youthful Reading derby on Saturday went the way of the YMCA who claimed their first victory of the season with a late Andrej Homola goal. The win has lifted them four points clear of bottom club Woodley United Royals.

Richings Park 2 Finchampstead 0

A Ricky Caves brace handed the home side all three points in another Thames Valley League shock. The victory moves Park into sixth. Finch remain in top spot despite the loss.

Westwood Wanderers 3 Marlow United 0

A solid 3-0 victory for Wanderers over United in Theale on Saturday. Westwood Wanderers have leapfrogged Marlow United and are now in seventh,.

Wraysbury 0 Yateley United 1

Yateley are quietly putting together some excellent results and are creeping up the Thames Valley Premier League table. They have a game in hand on their immediate rivals and were the only side in the top five to record a victory on Saturday. Rory Fitzmaurice was the hero on Saturday getting the only goal of the game against Wraysbury at Wheatsheaf Park.

Maidenhead Town 1 Windlesham & Chobham 1

All square at Bisham Abbey as Town missed an opportunity to move into second in the table. Sam Roberts put the visitors ahead before Aleksandar Yankov equalised for Maidenhead Town.
