Binfield FC add impressive midfielder to ranks for 2016/17 season

Binfield FC have signed Henley Town midfielder Asa Povey just three games into the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League season.

Povey went straight into the starting 11 for Monday nights 4-0 defeat of Burnham and could well have been on the scoresheet but for a well timed block from the visitors.

Moles boss Roger Herridge has seen a number of injuries across his midfield already this season with Nick Bateman substituted against North Greenford United in the FA Cup and Ross Seldon injured in the warm up of the same game, though the latter did start Monday nights game and scored Binfield’s third from a free kick.

Povey was a vital part of the Henley squad that achieved promotion to the Hellenic Premier Division last season playing 27 games and scoring 13 goals.

Herridge has had a chance to watch Povey twice this year in the Reading Senior Cup Final at the end of last season when he was outstanding, and in the opening game of this season – as well we expect on other occassions.
