In a busy day of transfer action in the Hellenic League, Binfield said goodbye to the services of former Ascot United striker Matt Jones who has joined Woodley United.

Jones played eighteen times for the Moles this season with nine of those as a substitute scoring five goals in the process and United manager Michael Herbert is pleased to have got his man.

Speaking exclusively to us, Herbert said “We are delighted to have Jonesy on board. He’s a good player but more importantly he is a great lad so will fit into the group straight away.

“We have a fantastic team spirit at Woodley and have been very selective in the players we have signed. We feel that Jonesy can give us that extra push for the last two months of the season.

“I wouldn’t believe what was said about him at Binfield. A manager who begrudges a player leaving their club does so because they know they are losing a good player.

“Binfield’s loss is our gain and we hope Jonesy enjoys a successful period at Woodley. Look out for his initiation song coming soon.”
