Woodley United have confirmed the return of their promotion winning goalkeeper Alex Reed ahead of the clubs first season in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division.

The Kestrels finished runners up at the end of the 2016/17 season in Division 1 East and won the Berks & Bucks County Intermediate Trophy after defeating Marlow United 2-1.

Reed was a key cog in a United defence that had the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 17 goals – five less than champions Penn & Tylers Green and played in all but two of the Kestrels 26 league games.

Manager Michael Herbert tweeted following the news: “What a talent this guy is. Outstanding first season with Woodley, we hope Alex can perform to a similar standard. Great lad too.”

Woodley are announcing their signings bit by bit and the goalkeeper joins top scorers Charlie Oakley and Josh Drew in signing on the dotted line for Herbert’s side.
