New Wokingham & Emmbrook manager Dan Bateman has announced his first signings since taking over the Lowther Road hot seat for a second time.
The Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East side have announced that midfielder Nick Bateman (pictured) has returned to the club after a spell at Binfield while full back Ben Winship has transferred from Finchampstead who took voluntary demotion to step 7.
Bateman made three appearances for the Moles last season while Winship featured 18 times for Finch who finished the season in fourth.
Additionally former Binfield youth team centre back Matthew Day and long-term absentee Chris Newlove have signed up for the coming 2017/18 campaign.
Speaking recently to FiB, the Sumas boss – who has released a list of 19 retained players – said it was key to improve the mentality amongst a squad that he suspected was still suffering following relegation from the Hellenic Premier Division. He said: “To be honest I think there was a little bit of a hang over from the lads who got beaten up the year before and my first job this year is to Turn that mentality around. We want to start winning games regularly again and then everything will start to improve.”
