Wantage Town have made a significant statement of intent ahead of the 2018/19 Hellenic League Premier Division season.
The Freds have announced on twitter that former Bracknell Town striker TJ Bohane will lead the line at Alfredian Park next season following a goal-filled two season spell with the Robins.
Bracknell confirmed Bohane would leave Larges Lane earlier in June citing travel as the major reason for the strikers departure.
The forward spent two seasons at Bracknell after joining from Royal Wootton Bassett Town in 2016 – his spell only interrupted by a short spell with Southern League side Swindon Supermarine.
Wiltshire based Bohane would have effectively been on the opposite side of the country for Bracknell’s Bostik League step 4 adventure following the clubs promotion from the Hellenic.
Title challengers
The signing of Bohane marks Wantage as one of the clubs who will likely challenge for the Hellenic League Premier title in what should be a very open title race.
Bohane has been a significant goal threat for every club he’s played for in the Hellenic – from Highworth Town and scored 50 league goals for Bracknell in the last two seasons.
A twitter poll on Football in Bracknell shows even before the signature of Bohane that Wantage were the early favourites for the title.
An early (bearing in mind no players have signed) finger in the air poll on who you think might lift the #hlprem this season.. @SevernSport @OxOnFootball @hellenicupdates – Comment with others – we can only add four 😖
