Bracknell Town have announced the retention of an influential midfielder Harrison Bayley for the 2019/20 season.

The club are due to find out on Sunday which division and league they will compete in, but manager Sam Lock has moved quickly to secure a fan favourite in Bayley who joined the club last summer from Thatcham Town.

The Robin lost a number of key members of their successful squad with the likes of Adam Cornell, Dave Hancock and Carl Davies confirming their departure so the news Bayley is staying will certainly big a big positive for fans.

Speaking to Football in Bracknell in a lengthy interview on Tuesday, Lock said about the players he hoped to keep at the Lane – including Bayley, Seb Bowerman and Liam Ferdinand: “I have had discussions with all those players. The thing is, at this level without contracting a player it’s difficult to make assumptions whether a player is going to stay or go. What I will tell you, they are all players I admire and come the start of the season if they are playing for Bracknell I’ll be very happy! I can tell you that much!”

A post on social media confirmed the move with the club saying simply: “Great to be welcoming back Harrison Bayley for the 2019/20 season.”

Bayley was one of three Robins who made the most appearances for the club last season, playing 46 times in the Bostik League South Central Division One scoring two goals including an important equaliser against former club Hayes & Yeading United.

Bayley’s other former clubs include Highmoor IBIS where he was captain and honours include the FA Vase and Hellenic League Premier Division title which he won with Thatcham Town in 2017/18.
