Maz Pacheco has a new club after Reading FC Women departure

Maz Pacheco will be reunited with former Liverpool manager Matt Beard at West Ham for the 2020/21 season after her contract with Reading FC Women expired in June this year. The signing comes following an announcement by the club this week that their state-of-the-art training ground is complete and up and running for the coming season.

In a statement on West Ham’s website, Beard said, “She is a great attacking full-back and I’m looking forward to continuing her development as a player here. She’s a great talent already and there is a lot more to come from her as well.”

Pacheco made 25 appearances as left-back for Reading FC Women, having signed for the club in 2018 from Doncaster Rovers Belles. She nabbed herself a goal for the team in January this year against London City Royals in an FA Cup fixture.

Pacheco has been a stalwart feature of the England squad making her way through the ranks from the U17’s with her most recent start for the U21’s, which included a third-place finish at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. No doubt she will feature within the Lionesses team in years to come.

Pacheco is only the second ex-Royal, following Rachael Laws confirmed return to Liverpool, of eight departures from Reading to announce her next career move with Millie Farrow, Jo Potter, Sophie Howard, Maxime Bennink, Remi Allen and Charlie Estcourt yet to confirm their plans for the season.
