Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division Reading City’s squad building continues at pace as the Cityzens announced five signatures on Thursday night.

Two of the five are new signings in the shape of left back Liam Baker and attacker Joe Pilling while youngsters Jude van Spall and Marco de Sousa have signed senior forms and Kai Stubbs has re-signed.

Baker has experience with a number of local clubs including Bracknell Town and Binfield as well as Badshot Lea and Wantage Town and will fill a position manager Simon Johnson had been looking to improve on: “Liam is another one that has come into pre-season with us and hit the ground running. He is a brilliant left-back with real athleticism. This was a position we have been looking to fill for a while, so we are delighted that Liam has signed for us, he will be a great addition”.

Pilling has also played for Badshot along with Camberley Town and can play as an attacking midfielder or out wide.

Stubbs played nine times in the Premier Division for Reading in 2019/20 scoring three goals while De Sousa made 12 appearances, eight off the bench. For 18-year-old Van Spall, it should his first season in senior football.

Full comment from City boss Simon Johnson on all five signings is on the Reading City website here.
