Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East Holyport have confirmed a number of returning players for the 2020/21 season.

The Summerleaze side almost made it back to step 5 at the end of last season, but the curtailment of 2019/20 and subsequent removal of promotion possibilities that would have seen them go up with a third-place finish means they have it all to do again.

Derek Sweetman’s side will be without 29-goal top-scorer Fabian Driffill who has moved on to Isthmian League Marlow while Josh Masters has signed for Combined Counties League Premier Division Ascot United.

However, a number of last seasons successful side will return, the club has confirmed via social media. A veteran of 266 Port appearances Daniel Rapley, Alan Ackerman (168 apps), Matt Ensby (152 apps), Sam Whitfield (169 apps) and Charlie Evans (59 apps) will all play at Summerleaze again next season.

Speaking previously to Football in Berkshire about Driffill’s departure, Sweetman said: “I was in dialogue with Barts [Marlow manager Mark Bartley] for a while. It was the best move for Fabs as he wanted to play at a higher level and Barts was happy to give Fabs the opportunity. Sad to see him go, but so pleased he’s got the chance to progress.

“It will be tough replacing him but we have a few options.”
