Slough Town striker Dan Roberts has linked up with Kent side Dartford after departing the Rebels, it has been confirmed.

Roberts left Slough last week after 58 games for the Arbour Park side and 13 goals including a hat-trick against Dorking Wanderers.

The forward has enjoyed an upward trajectory in recent seasons after coming through the ranks at Bracknell Town and playing at step 7 with Berks County.

He enjoyed a breakout season though in 2018/19 under Mick Woodham at Windsor where he caught the eye of Slough’s joint-managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood after scoring 39 times in 45 games for the Hellenic League side.

He joined Slough on dual-registration toward the end of 18/19 and played seven times before joining permanently in the summer.

Dartford – who will be gunning for promotion to the National League next season after finishing the curtailed 20/21 season second – are managed by well-known former Macclesfield and Farnborough boss Steve King who made his name with South Coast side Lewes.

Darts fan, and Football in Berkshire’s own Tony Hardy said: “Delighted Dan has signed for the Darts. We lacked strike power last season, what was played of it, and if Dan fulfills all the potential he has clearly shown at Bracknell, Windsor and Slough, he will become a massive favourite of the Darts fans. Looking forward to him pulling on that white shirt and banging in a few goals. Who knows, Dan could soon be a National League player with Dartford.”

Roberts appeared on the Berkshire Football Stories podcast in April 2020. Listen to the full episode below.
