It’s been quite a season for Ascot United Ladies from potentially dropping down a level to promotion contenders in the Southern Region Women’s League Division 1.

United top the table by four points at the time of writing and could well win the title depending on results from promotion rivals New Milton Town’s final two games.

A huge part in the Yellawomen’s rise from finishing second bottom at the end of 2015/16 has been the emergence of young forward Amy Woollard who has scored 17 league goals in 17 appearances – only five fewer than the whole United side in 15/16.

The 2016/17 Bracknell Football Awards are now open for nominations.

Alongside strike partner Lucy Holzman-Clark (herself scoring 16 league goals), Woollard has given herself a shot at the golden boot – currently leading the standings by two goals from Milton’s Olivia Jones who still has two matches to play.
