Woodley United took the spoils at neighbours Wokingham & Emmbrook in the big Southern Region Women’s Football League Division 1 North derby with a 2-0 win on Sunday.

It was a huge improvement for the Sumas on the last time the two sides met – a match that ended in a 7-2 win for Woodley, and Wokingham certainly had their chances.

Woodley’s Rebecca Lowes opened the scoring on 38 minutes from Rosie Page-Smith’s pass and Page-Smith got on the score sheet herself on 63 minutes.

The visitors Nicole Haines was the busier of the two goalkeepers in the second half, pulling off a string of saves while the crossbar denied Wokingham’s Caroline Patterson and the offside flag denied Alice Lilley and Sian Cleary.

In the Premier Division, Olivia Hazell got Ascot United’s only goal as they suffered a 7-1 defeat at home to leaders Chesham United. The Yellawomen held their Buckinghamshire visitors to 2-1 at the half time break.

In the Thames Valley Counties League Division 2 East, Binfield won by their biggest ever margin – albeit against the nine women of Taplow Reds with a hat trick apiece for Amy Martin and Connie Wilson while Loren Cardy scored twice and Charisse Tregear scored her first goal for the club in a 9-1 win.

Ascot United Reserves were beaten 9-2 by Guildford Saints, Louise Pullen scoring both goals for the Yellawomen while Holyport Ladies were beaten 2-1 by Abbey Rangers.
