Binfield give Holyport a fright and Ascot United Reserves win big

Nicole Edwards scored twice as Binfield Ladies fought back from 4-1 down to give early Thames Valley Counties Women’s League Division 2 East leaders a fright.

Edwards had the best chance of the first half but moments later the visitors scored from a counter attack and took a 1-0 lead in to the break.

Port then raced to a 3-0 lead in the second half before Edwards pulled one back, only for the visitors to score again. The game wasn’t over though, a frantic final 10 minutes saw Charisse-Ellouise Tregear score along with Edwards again but the Moles couldn’t quite find the equaliser.

Elsewhere in the Division, Ascot United Reserves beat Taplow United Reds 13-0 with goals from Louise Pullen (3), Carol Checkley (2), Courtney Gibbons (2), Darcey Young (2), Rebecca Eke (2), Amy Walters and Mollie Wells.

In the Southern Region Women’s Premier Division Woodley United beat Barton Rovers 2-1 thanks to goals from Rosie Page-Smith and Faye Ward and Ascot United lost 4-2 at Winchester City Flyers. The Yellawomen’s goals coming from Hannah Evans and Georgia Bowers.

Sandhurst Town played their first match of the season in Division 1, losing 3-1 to Alton but Wargrave beat Southampton Womens Development 3-1 courtesy of a Millie Bilcliff hat trick.
