Reading have confirmed their first departure of the transfer window as Sophie Quirk makes the loan move to Championship side London Bees. She will be keen to get game time in the side having seen her fellow academy peers, Emma Harries, Kiera Skeels and Bethan Roberts, regularly named on the bench and making starts for the first team.

The midfielder made her debut against the London City Lionesses back in January of 2020, in a convincing 5-0 win in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup, but has struggled to secure a spot amongst the more experienced players in the squad.

The 18-year old has a number of U17 England caps to her name having last played for the Lionesses in a 2-0 win over the Netherlands back in May of 2019.

Quirk will join fellow former Royal Charlie Estcourt who made the move to the Bees back in the summer after she was one of nine players who found themselves out of contract with the WSL Royals. The Bees are just one place off the bottom of the table, having secured two wins in 11 and are set to play third-place Liverpool, who were relegated from the WSL last season, this coming Sunday. A big game to get the ball rolling should Quirk make the match-day squad.
